PROGRAM OUTLINE
Day 1 (2nd October) – Arrival & Settling
Before Noon – Check-in with a refreshing drink, and take time to settle down.
Post Noon – The facilitator will introduce herself, share some of her work. Followed by some icebreakers where we explore different mediums together. A small brief for the next day and intent for the retreat will be shared at sunset over a cup of warm thyme tea.
Day 2 (3rd October) – Immersing yourself
We begin with a little sketching by observation and explore different surfaces, followed by some art demos by the facilitator. She will lead you on a little walk introducing visual banks. Later in the day we spend some time connecting through writing and working on collaboratively illustrating pictures together inspired by our surroundings.
Late evening we can have informal conversations about art, design, books, passion projects, on making choices, expectations, art education … revolving around our own stories and creative journeys so far.
Day 3 (4th October) – Connecting
After a small nature walk into the woods with a picnic / local meal enjoyed outdoors … we will work with materials that mix, don’t mix, organic compositions, visual arrangements … things that will open up our minds to different ways of seeing. The day will be spent discovering palettes in nature and organic patterns.
A high tea and local gathering of creative people who have made a life in the hills and mountains, who come to see our small showcase. Followed later by a short conversation with the host (a wildlife photographer) who will share his stories and experiences of the changing nature of forests, animal migration and traditional bird feeders.
Day 4 (5th October) – Closing & Departure
